Presentation Title: "Agile Development for Distributed Teams" with Kelly Bates
Agile development methodology calls for face-to-face teams to be most effective. But what if your business is not set up that way? This presentation focuses on best practices that enable organizations to build high-performing Agile teams even when they are spread across the globe. Whether you have a Product Manager in the US, an architect in the UK, and a development team in India, it is possible to build strong Agile teams that deliver.
Speaker: Kelly Bates, PMP, PMI-ACP, A-CSM
I have been doing some form of project management since my career started over 20 years ago. My experience ranges from video production to video game publishing to web application development. My education in Agile methodology began in 2007 when I secured my Certified Scrum Master credential. I began my work as a ScrumMaster in 2010. My Agile journey has included working with teams that share the same office space to teams working together from halfway across the world.
I believe in the power of the Agile development methodology. I have watched teams transform from delay after delay in delivering to consistently delivering and shipping to production on every sprint boundary. Agile development is not just about predictability, early feedback, and responsiveness to change. It is about the soft but powerful skills of communication, empowerment, trust, and commitment.
I currently serve as Director of the Project Management Office for Mitratech.
