How do I join PMI?

Membership is open to anyone who is interested and/or engaged in practicing, teaching, researching or otherwise applying project management skills. To become a member in the Austin Chapter, you must first join the PMI Global organization at www.pmi.org.

How do I join the Austin Chapter?

To become a member of the PMI Austin Chapter, you must first become a member of the Project Management Institute. As you fill out the main PMI membership application, you will be asked if you wish to join a local chapter. Simply select the Austin Chapter (there is an extra $25 fee for joining the PMI Austin Chapter).

If you are already a member of PMI Global, but would like to join the local chapter, select Local Chapters from the menu on the left of the screen. 

I am a new member—how do I log-on on to the Member Area on the local chapter site?

Within 24-48 hours of purchasing your local membership at www.pmi.org you will receive a welcome email from PMI. The email will obtain log-in details to access the PMI Austin Chapter site as a member. If you do not receive the welcome email please contact us at membership@pmiaustin.org.

I'm a member but this is my first visit to the Chapter's website, how do I logon?

Your PMI Austin log-in is the same as your PMI Global log on credentials (your PMI ID and password). Any problems logging on please send an email to technology@pmiaustin.org

I forgot my log-in credentials to the local chapter, what do I do?

From the top navigation menu, select Login and click the Forgot Password? link and follow the instructions. PMI will send you an email notification to change your password.

I am a chapter member and am not receiving emails from PMI Austin Chapter, what can I do?

Please verify the email you listed with PMI Global under myPMI.

If the email address is correct, check your spam folder. A firewall or spam filtering service is likely the cause of the issue.  However, you can white list several domains and IP addresses to ensure safe delivery.  Depending on your e-mail service, you may be able to do this yourself, or you may need the assistance of your IT administrator. 

You may also have unsubscribed from chapter mailings, in which case you will not receive any newsletter emails.

I forgot to register for the Chapter meeting, can I still attend?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept on-site registrations for meals. We can accept a limited number of walk-ins for the presentations only. Please register in advance for our monthly chapter events, as we must provide RSVP counts to our event vendor in advance.

I recently attended a PMI Austin event offering PDUs and have not received them yet. What do I do?

What is the deadline for event registrations?

How do I cancel my reservation (and get a refund)?

What forms of payment do you accept?
  • Prepayment: Visa, MC, Discover, and AMEX

Do you hold PMP Certification Prep classes?

How do I register for the PMP Certification exam?

Online Registration for the PMP or CAPM exam is handled on the global PMI website at www.pmi.org. Please note that you must meet the requirements in order to take the exam.

I'm interested in speaking at a dinner meeting, or I want to recommend a speaker. Who should I contact?

How do I volunteer?

We have a Volunteer Management Site (VRMS) for indicating interest in volunteering. Please note that this is only a communication from members to the chapter leadership. You will be contacted separately to confirm your tasks. You may also contact volunteer@pmiaustin.org for more information.

How do I become a member of the Board of Directors?

Director and chair positions are appointed by the Officers. All director and chair opportunities will be posted on the Volunteer Management Site (VRMS). Contact the Officer associated with the position for more information. You may also contact our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@pmiaustin.org.

Officer positions are elected by the membership. The Nominating Committee prepares a slate for election each year. Please contact the Past President if you are interested in becoming an Officer.
