Brilliance of Resilience: Cultivating Mental Fitness with Positive Intelligence

The burnout crisis is real, and the numbers are staggering. 23% of employees are chronically burned out, and 47% more are headed in that direction (and those stats are prior to 2020!). The stresses of our personal and professional lives often overlap one other, causing the pressure to multiply. So how do you keep yourself healthy and moving forward when times are tough? Answer: Cultivate Mental Fitness to better navigate the stress, frustration, and unhappiness that we all experience as part of life. This open, honest, and funny program looks at how to recognize your internal “Saboteurs” (thoughts and habits that generate negative emotion).

Once you’re aware of the Saboteur behaviors, you become empowered to intentionally leverage your “Sage” mind skills such as empathy, curiosity, and innovation. Embracing the Sage give you increased mental flexibility and the ability to choose resilience and growth over burnout and frustration in the face of challenge. Reflection, discussion, and interactive storytelling are used to learn the tools and skills for creating psychologically safe spaces that support resilience in our teams and ourselves.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the relationship of challenge, resilience, and growth
  • Identify specific signs that Saboteurs are impacting thoughts and behavior
  • Learn pattern interrupts to break Saboteur habits and switch to Sage skills
  • Apply a story-based tool to intentionally discern benefits that have come from past challenges

Key Takeaway: It’s easy to get caught up in the negative impacts of the challenges we experience. Learning a tool to shift the relationship with challenging events empowers people to be happier and more effective both personally and professionally.
