Presentation Title: Inclusive Networking Through Courageous Conversations
The world is very unsettled about diversity, equity and inclusion especially given the current social unrest. There are so many myths surrounding DEI and many people remain oblivious to the work that still needs to be done. Even in the wake of the revived BLM movement DEI is still being treated like a polite, positive, hopeful feel-good mantra that does not include any action.
Everyone values it yet few are really translating it into action. Let us stop just talking about it, let us really be about it as allies for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Inclusion is the action part of diversity and starts with us talking about it right in our own organizations with internal networking. How we treat, respect and value each other every single day through our courageous conversations about our experiences is what brings us together. Angela will use this session to promote engagement from the audience surrounding inclusion using her personal storytelling and dynamic passion for such an important topic.
- How to go from networking to inclusion
- Address some common barriers to inclusive behavior
- Discuss some positive active behavior surrounding promoting inclusion and courageous conversations
