In today’s dynamic social and business environment, it is impossible to become an effective Connector without being a great Communicator. Learning to connect with people is the first step in this process. As humans, we need each other. We need to feel connected. Connection is the energy that exists when people feel supported, valued, and loved. Connecting allows you to build self-esteem and effectively inspire and motivate others.

Management still wants to know when they’re going to get their stuff, and they also want to know the current status of the project at the end of every sprint. Here’s an easy way to plan your next agile project and collect the right statistics for transparent status reporting.

This requires leaders to go beyond just tactical problem solving and directing folks through day-to-day issues under the guise of leadership. Experience in this mini-workshop what research has shown: how empowerment, self-direction, and self-management lead to greater innovation, higher levels of commitment, and happier employees, which in turn impacts the bottom line.

Education Opportunities

PMI Austin Chapter

SATURDAY PMP® EXAM PREP CLASSES


Saturday exam preparation courses are designed to help students pass PMI's PMP® or CAPM® exam. The 40-hour course, based on the newly-released PMBOK® Guide 6th edition, is taught over five Saturdays from 8:00am - 5:00pm and meets the 35-hour requirement for PMP® certification.

Cost: $1,095 for PMI Austin Chapter members and $1,195 for non-members.

PMP EXAM PREP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Education Office of PMI Austin Chapter offers our unemployed members free tuition for our Saturday PMP Exam Prep classes.  Only the material costs will be required ($250). Students are encouraged to pay the remaining tuition ($845) to the Scholarship Fund once they find employment. To apply, contact Geoff West at certification@pmiaustin.org Be sure to ask Geoff about the military, student, and group discounts offered through PMI Austin!

PMI Austin Chapter has partnered with Banyan Group Project Management Solutions to offer PMP® and PMP-ACP® Exam preparation courses, as well as an Intro to Agile class. Weekday courses will be available both in the classroom and online.

Volunteer Opportunities

Get involved. Make a difference. Be a volunteer.

We have volunteer opportunities to fit everyone's busy schedule and skillset. Find out about the benefits of being a volunteer and search all available opportunities through our Volunteer Relationship Management System (VRMS) at https://vrms.pmi.org/. Positions include:

Volunteer Chair. Assist the Director of Volunteer with attracting and retaining volunteers for chapter events. The purpose is to ensure that chapter events are fully staffed with trained volunteers to assist attendees and board members.

PMI Austin Mentors. Develop mentor-mentee relationships to share your knowledge with other project management professionals.

PMI Austin Mentees. Provide an opportunity to develop a relationship with a more experienced project management professional to guide and support you in your career goals.

Drop by and check out the Austin Project Manager Toastmasters.  Toastmasters is a great way to develop self-confidence by improving your communication and leaddrship skills.  Toastmasters clubs conduct meetings for members tosupport each other inreaching personal and professional goals.  You can also earn PDU's by giving a presentation, sharing knowledge, and volunteering.
