It's no secret we are bombarded daily with an overload of information and expectations from the news, work, social media, project teams, and other sources. Infobesity is the term describing the difficulty in sifting through information overload to make effective decisions. It affects our performance as well as our working relationships. Through Mind-FULL-ness practices - including focus, high performance habits, emotional intelligence, assumption busting, setting boundaries - we can form effective strategies for high work performance moving forward. Participants will receive tips and make a personal plan to engage in the activities to reduce ineffectiveness.

Austin PM Toastmasters is a local club looking for new members! Toastmasters is a great way to develop self-confidence by improving your communication and leadership skills.Toastmasters clubs conduct meetings for members to support each other in reaching personal and professional goals. PMI Austin Chapter wants to welcome its new chapter members and congratulate new credential holders. In the month of October, we welcomed 78 new chapter members. That brings our total new members so far this year to 890.

PMI AUSTIN RECOGNIZES PMIEF ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
In 2018, PMI Austin Chapter sponsored two academic scholarships as part of PMI Educational Foundation (PMIef) Academic Scholarship Program. The scholarship supports academic students studying in project management and project management-related degree programs at an accredited institution.
Awardees are selected by the PMIef global headquarters Scholarship Application Evaluation Committe based on eligibility requirement criteria. The PMI Austin Chapter awardees were recognized at the October Community Spotlight meeting on Oct. 23.

Saturday exam preparation courses are designed to help students pass PMI's PMP® or CAPM® exam. The 40-hour course, based on the newly-released PMBOK® Guide 6th edition, is taught over five Saturdays and meets the 35-hour requirement for PMP® certification.

Chair of Education Materials - Research and recommend educational material selection and facilitate implementation of board approved selections. Coordinate ordering of materials and manage inventory.
Director of Certification - Responsible for helping people prepare for and maintain certification. Manage the cerfification programs and lead the team of volunteer instructors.
Director of Education Quality Management - Manage education contracts, evaluate and make recommendations for improvement of education programs.
Director of Events and Facilities - Oversees contract management, logistical consulting and associated activities for facilities required to conduct monthly chapter meetings, board meetings, and other chapter-supported events requiring meeting rooms or venues.
Director of Volunteers - Addresses the needs of volunteers, including recruitment, retention, recognition, and leadership development and support in accordance with chapter policies.
Marketing Chair - Assists with coordination of communication and marketing activities and creating marketing collateral for chapter events.
Mentors and Mentees - Develop relationships to exchange knowledge and set goals to advance careers of mentees.
Operations Online Registration Chair - Works with VP of Operations, Director of Technology and Webmaster to manage online registration system.
Operations Registration Chair - Manage activities related to event registration for monthly chapter meetings, Spring PDD series and other events as needed.
Operations Booth Chair - Promote and manage attendance and representation at events or tradeshows related to project management.
Operations Editor Chair - Reviews and edits all PMI Austin Chapter documents prior to posting on the chapter website.
Operations Inventory Chair - Maintains current and future inventory of chapter equipment, raffle items, give-aways and supplies.
Operations Research Chair - Oversees chapter metrics including surveys for all aspects of the organization.
U.S. Chapter Military Liaison - Serves as a guide and bridge to military personnel interested in project management for Q&A, membership benefits, as well as certification support, networking and career connectivity between local chapter board, members and local military installations, and veteran groups in the area.
Volunteer for PMI Region 6 Leadership Institute Meeting - Multiple volunteer roles include: pre-meeting planning and strategic meetings, registration support, greeter, session monitors, etc.
