Al ZeitounAl Zeitoun, PhD, EVP, PMP, PMI-RMP, PMI-SP has over 30 years of global experiences in project management and strategic change, leading operational excellence for large corporations. His transformative strategy execution includes roles such as executive director, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), UAE. In this role, Dr. Zeitoun built the internal capabilities to support operational readiness for the complex US$20 billion one-of-a-kind new build of four nuclear power plants. He applied his integration and collaboration skills to lead ENEC’s portfolio governance and program health checks. He drove strategic initiatives such as Saudi's Contracting Sector 2024 Simulation and represented the firm on the PMI Global Executive Council. Dr. Zeitoun has also been a thought leader at leading institutions, including PwC Academy's MBA courses, University of Maryland's PMO courses, as well as leading ITT Technical Institute's Master of PM Curriculum Development and Delivery program. Dr. Zeitoun has been volunteering for PMI for 20 years. His vision for project management is to see it be the central enabler for organizational and personal excellence. He studied in Egypt, Germany, and earned his engineering PhD in the United States.

Sandeep DesaiSandeep K. Desai is the Executive Architect and Watson Solutions Leader for Financial Services Sector. Sandeep brings deep industry knowledge in financial services and expertise in Watson solutions to solve complex business challenges and deliver real competitive advantage for our clients. Sandeep has held multiple roles in the Watson organization including business development, solution design, and enterprise transformation. Sandeep is Open Group Certified Distinguished IT Architect, IBM Senior Certified Enterprise IT Architect, IBM Watson Certified, and IBM Certified SOA Solution Designer. He holds 21 IBM product certifications in the areas of Cognitive, SOA, BPM etc. He has authored articles for IBM Developer Works and is a guest speaker at various conferences and universities.

 

Kevin MartinKevin D. Martin, PMP, PMI-ACP, MBA brings nearly four decades of leadership and project/program/portfolio experience in Information Technology, Call Center Operations, and Project Management disciplines. Actively involved in the vision and growth of the global award-winning Alamo PMI chapter, his focus is building and leading high performing teams to achieve business value and sustainable success. His talents have benefited numerous Fortune 200 companies in the Oil and Gas, Banking, and Financial Services industries, in addition to various sports, volunteer, and community service organizations. Mr. Martin is a member of the faculty at the University of Texas – San Antonio, with a focus on project management and agile business practices to develop future leaders for delivering organizational and business value through innovation and continuous learning. As a leadership thought leader and international speaker in high demand, Mr. Martin enjoys the variety and challenges at every scale of complexity and business development. You can find him on social media, facilitating teams, through mentoring, or discussing timely topics with friends and colleagues.

Steven HaleSteven Hale, MBA is the Chief of Staff to the GM of IBM’s Watson Content and Internet of Things (IoT) Platform (including The Weather Company) business unit. As Chief of Staff, Steven is responsible for supporting the GM and leading initiatives across all aspects of the business. This has included leading the Watson Content business, which focuses on making Watson smarter “out of the box” across different verticals. He also led the establishment of an energy load forecasting solution for electric utilities that leverages hyper- local weather data. Prior to his Chief of Staff role, Steven was the Business Development Executive in IBM’s Watson IoT business unit focusing on acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships. He is responsible for developing and evaluating inorganic growth opportunities across various IoT verticals. Prior to this role, Steven was the Solution Sales representative for Public Sector clients on the State of Georgia Integrated Account. He was responsible for driving innovative cloud strategies for IBM’s government and education clients and was responsible for developing IBM’s competitive positioning for the federally mandated nation-wide First Responders Network (FirstNet). Prior to his work with the State of Georgia, he was a Senior Consultant within IBM’s healthcare group. Steven Hale graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He received his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Roger HaskettRoger Haskett, BFA, MA is an award-winning international keynote speaker who ignites positive transformational change in teams and individuals. He creates engagement through topics ranging from the power of play to stress management, performance excellence, and effective communication. In the last year, Roger has been honored with Meetings Net’s 2017 Change Maker Award, MPI’s Supplier of the Year for British Columbia, and MPI’s Program of the Year for Southern Florida. He received top session evaluations from hundreds of happy clients and has been seen on thousands of stages around the world. Roger also has an impressive background in acting and education. Spencer HornSpencer Horn, MS, CTPC is currently the President of Spencer Horn Solutions. He was previously the CEO of a leadership development company and Vice President of a NASDAQ company that developed IMAX theaters in tourist destinations. There, he worked with major organizations such as IMAX Corp., National Geographic Television, Radio City Productions, Disney Films, and more. He has been speaking and presenting at PMI chapter development conferences since 2010 and has been a regular speaker at the PMI Leadership Institute Meeting (LIM) North America Conference since 2014. He has also been the concluding speaker for the year-long, PMI Leadership Institute Master Class (LIMC) since 2015 and is scheduled to speak again at the 2018 LIMC in Los Angeles. Spencer is a co-author of The Power of the Platform: Speakers on Life along with Jack Canfield, Les Brown, Brian Tracy and more. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in economics from the University of Utah. He is a certified team coaching facilitator through Team Coaching International and a certified Professional Dynametric Programs trainer and administrator through PDP Global.

Mac McGuireMac McGuire, PhD is the Founding President and Chief Operating Officer of McGuire & Associates Consulting (MAC) that he began upon his retirement from the military (US Army) after over thirty years of service. He is also the CEO of the Quality Texas Foundation that annually gives the Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence to the very best organizations in Texas following the Baldrige Criteria. Dr. McGuire began his military career as a private, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. His military experience included a tour as a Company Commander and as a Battalion Commander of two military organizations. He was responsible for the implementation of Quality initiatives for over 21,000 personnel statewide in 110 Texas communities. In 2000, the Texas National Guard won the Gold Level First Place at the international Baldrige competition in the Army Communities of Excellence. He served on the personal staffs of five two-star generals and one three-star. He has also served as a performance coach for several Fortune 100/500 companies in the areas of leadership, change management, mentoring/coaching, and strategic planning. He has assisted over 300 organizations in their performance improvement efforts since 1990. Dr. McGuire is a Malcolm Baldrige Alumni Examiner and has served as an international Baldrige Examiner and Executive Officer for the military Baldrige program called the Army Communities of Excellence (green Baldrige). He has been involved with Baldrige-based internal and external assessments since 1990. His Leadership Development Program is often requested by organizations.

Todd WilliamsThe approach of Todd C. Williams, PMP to helping companies succeed is a strong comprehensive strategic foundation coupled with operational excellence which allows companies to build the capabilities to thrive. Using nearly thirty years of experience, he helps companies turn their vision into value by executing initiatives successfully. Mr. Williams international experience working with executives and multicultural teams has earned him a reputation as someone who can come into any situation and address issues. He has published two books—Filling Execution Gaps (DeGruyter, 2017) and Rescue the Problem Project (AMACOM, 2011)—that capture the essence of what companies need to do to run projects successfully. Session 2A. Project Management – A Matter of Life and Death: Leadership Extremes (1.5 Leadership PDUs)

Leadership’s biggest tests come under extreme stress. Stress tries our emotions, logic, ethics, and our core values. Extreme stress—both personal and professional—pushes you to the breaking point. You never know how you will perform; however, working through potential scenarios helps you face the inevitable. Project management coupled with leadership is critical not only in your business life, but also in your personal life. This session will review three situations which demonstrated that it can save your life or someone else’s life.

Session 2B. IBM Watson: Augmented Intelligence in Today’s Solutions (1.5 Strategic & Business Management PDUs)

This session provides leaders with the skills to recognize how emotions drive behaviors, the difficulty in managing one’s own emotions, and the emotions of those around them. Leaders become more aware of their unconscious behaviors and learn to effectively manage emotions to make conscious decisions for future behaviors—review tools to manage interpretation of information and appropriate levels of reactions. Learn how your higher brain functions are neutralized reducing your effectiveness.
