Professional Development Series Volunteers

Thanks to everyone who participated in the extremely successful Professional Development Series (PDS) – Spring Seminar on May 2, 2013! Almost 190 people attended the event at J.J. Pickle Center to hear speaker and best-selling PM author, Neal Whitten, talk about taking leadership and project management to a personal level. He revealed leading-edge best practices that make all the difference between leading consistently successful projects and playing the victim with troubled projects. Koji Kodama, our 2013 PMI Austin Chapter President, opened the day with a warm welcome for all participants.

Under April Berman's leadership, the PDS Day of Event Volunteers were amazing! In addition to setting everything up and stuffing the participant bags the night before, the volunteers spent the day of the seminar staffing the registration table to answer questions and resolve any concerns encountered by our participants. Our DOE volunteers were: Maureen Zoric Townsend, Lynne Krammer, Ellie Brady, and Jeff Gieber.

We also appreciate our sponsors who partnered with PMI Austin to provide WiFi, insulated PMI Austin grocery bags, event badges/lanyards, and other goodies.

The PDS Spring Seminar would not be possible without the guidance and assistance of our Professional Development Officer, Chris Hartsfield. In addition to overseeing the monthly Chapter meetings, he also oversees the planning for the PDS Seminars as well.

Coordinating such a large event takes a team of highly motivated and dedicated volunteers. Luckily, this chapter has a fantastic team! We work year round to plan the PDS events, planning everything from venue and food selection to finding and contracting speakers, soliciting vendors to help support the event, and communicating with and registering participants.

Planning is already underway for the PDS Fall Seminar to be held at the Renaissance Hotel on October 3, 2013, so be sure to save that date! We can always use more help planning these events. Please let us know if you're interested in volunteering. It's a fun way to meet people, support the chapter and earn PDUs!
